Description:
The study will compare the safety and effectiveness of an inhaled medication in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). All study-related medical care and study medicine are provided at no cost, and we will compensate you for time and travel..


What is expected of me?
This study requires approximately 10-17 clinic visits over the course of the study.


There are 4 to 5 visits during the first 3 months, with additional follow-up visits every 3 months thereafter.


Who qualifies for the study?:

To be in the study you must:

Men and women, age 40 years and older, with documented COPD may be eligible to participate. Patients must have a smoking history (current or former smoker) and meet certain lung function test requirements. Women who are able to become pregnant must agree to use birth control.


Who may not be in the study?:

You may not be in the study if you:

  • Oxygen use more than 12 hours per day
  • History or diagnosis of asthma
  • Certain heart conditions
  • Cancer within the past 5 years (except certain skin cancers)
  • Women who are nursing or pregnant.


Length of Study:
Up to 3 ½ years
