Garden Way Medical Clinic Receives National Quality of Care Award

Based on its quality of care composite measures and other assessments, Oregon Medical Group’s Garden Way Medical Clinic has earned the 2018 HealthInsight Quality Award for Outpatient Practices. This award requires ranking in the top three percent (at or above the 97th percentile) based on the Pediatric Quality of Care composite measure reported to the Oregon All-Payer database, as well as achieving a weighted ‘Compare Your Care’ cost score of “Better.”

The award was presented to Dr. Stacy Chance at HealthInsight’s Annual Quality Conference in Salem, on May 21. “It was an honor for OMG and GWMC in particular to be recognized for the hard work we are doing to improve quality care for our patients. All of our employees have committed to continuous improvement in the way we provide care and this award exemplifies our focus on improvement. It stands as a representation of our commitment to our vision.”

Since 2004, HealthInsight has recognized Medicare-certified providers for demonstrating high quality health care and excellence in performance on publicly reported quality of care measures. Quality of care measures come from patient information that is collected from home health agencies, nursing homes and hospitals. These measures provide one piece of information that consumers can use to decide how well providers care for their patients.

In Oregon, the “Compare Your Care” database and website (developed by Oregon Health Care Quality Corporation, now part of HealthInsight) also includes Total Cost of Care comparisons for outpatient practices that had cost information available. Total Cost of Care comparisons are currently based on the average of practices’ 2015 and 2016 performance. To recognize excellence in providing value, HealthInsight Oregon factored Total Cost of Care performance into Oregon’s criteria for the 2018 HealthInsight Quality Awards by providing a category of awards for practices that met the quality criteria and also achieved a weighted Compare Your Care Cost Score of “Lower than average cost.”
